Greater Noida Carnival 2019 - Mobile App Contest

Background

The UN Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Cities initiative has selected Noida and Greater Noida to participate in the 'University City' category, as the only invitee from India and they will be competing with elite university cities such as Cambridge, Palo Alto and Heidelberg, among others. Overall, 25 cities across the world have been selected in five categories.

Purpose

While the overarching objective of the initiative is to facilitate an inclusive approach to overall development (“Make Greater Noida a Happy and Smart City”), the specific purpose is to invite ideas/suggestions from citizens as well as from entities like NGOs and Universities.

It is believed that selecting and implementing appropriate suggestions from such submissions, coming from the beneficiaries themselves, would go a long way in improving not just the quality of life, but also the trust and relationship between GNIDA and the citizens.

Problem Statement

Inviting working / functional mobile applications (Android and iOS) that can help the public of Greater Noida in various ways or can solve common problems regarding cleanliness, safety, transport, communication, development, etc. and make Greater Noida a Happy and Smart City.

Scope

The contestants will not be restricted to work on a single problem statement. The competition is open to all those who are willing to provide ideas for improvement. On implementation these innovative mobile Applications will benefit the public of Greater Noida making it a Happy and Smart City.

Eligibility and Rules

  • * An individual should not be associated with the multiple teams
  • * All registrations and submissions will be accepted ONLY through the registration and submission link available at the bottom of this page. No personal queries/visits/postal mail will be entertained.
  • * Submission of only one app per team is allowed
  • * Any changes in App after submission would not be considered
  • * All submissions must contain an error free code (or APK file) in .zip format, accompanied by a readMe.pdf file containing the team number, reason to make this app and the App.’s working should also be explained in this file should be submitted through submission link below.
  • * Entries not satisfying problem statement shall be disqualified.
  • * The decision of the Management is final.
  • * Use of any open sourced code is prohibited
  • Timelines

    Following dates are important for Mobile App Contest:

  • * Team Registration link goes live at 10:00 am on 14th January 2019
  • * Form Submission link goes live at 10:00 am on 17th January 2019
  • * Last date for registration: 31st March, 2019
  • * Last date for App submission: 31st March, 2019
  • * Declaration of results: To be announced
  • * Awards ceremony: To be announced
  • Screening and selection process

  • * Initial screening and shortlisting: To be announced
  • * Final selection of top three mobile applications by GNIDA authorities: To be announced
  • Awards

  • * A certificate and cash award of Rs. 1,00,000 will be given to the top team
  • * A certificate and cash award of Rs. 50,000 will be given to the second-best team
  • * A certificate and cash award of Rs. 25,000 will be given to the third-best team
  • The next seven submissions on merit will each be given a certificate.

    Shortlisting and selection criteria

    A. To maintain objectivity in screening and selection of the application, we will use the following criteria:

  • 1. Usability of the the App.
  • 2. Novelty/uniqueness of the Mobile App
  • 3. Functionality of the Code
  • 4. Possible impact of the App
  • 5. Design Aesthetics
  • Each application will be rated on a scale of 10 (equal weightage) for each of the 5 criteria, taking the maximum score to 50.

    B. Final selection of top three Mobile Apps will be done exclusively by the GNIDA authorities based on online submissions. There will be no personal meetings/interviews. If found necessary, authorities may seek clarifications from those submitting the Mobile Apps.

  • * Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  • Application Process / Guidelines

  • 1. Register the team through the links available on this page below as per the dates given above which would generate a unique team number.
  • 2. Submit the complete code and other requirements in .zip format (you will have an opportunity to upload images & videos as part of the submission) through the submission links below as per the dates given above.
  • 3. A form will appear with Bennett Logo
  • 4. Enter details like Name, Email, Mobile etc. as mentioned in the form
  • 5. Paste the link of your Google Drive where the content has been uploaded
  • 6. File (Zip) / Video / text / image can be uploaded by each respondent and then click on the submit button
  • 7. Each student can only submit 1 response after signing into their google account
